The Right Direction

In life, having a sense of direction is a very helpful thing. To get to where you are, you must know where you have been. If you are lost, retracing your steps can be very beneficial. Finding a path to God has been no different for me. I had to acknowledge where I had been, accept it, repent of it, and keep moving forward. Little did I know that I already had a “map” for this journey. It is called “The Holy Bible”.

I had always heard the phrase “what goes up must come down.” In the case of the living, what is down needs to go up. Going up is our grand goal if we chose everlasting life. It should be considering the promises made to us by our Lord. Just think, a land of never ending food, no worries about shelter or clothing, no more sickness, no wars, no death. At this point, I cant even imagine what that must be like. Eternal peace….ahhhh. How sweet it must be. But this is a gift that just isn’t randomly given. We must do our part. But, what is required of us to receive such a gift?

FAITH . Sounds simple right? Not so fast! Anyone, can just go through life saying “I believe in God. I believe in Jesus.” James 2:17 (NKJV) states “Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” So what are “works”? Works are actions that you preform according to your beliefs. Love, generosity, forgiveness, prayer, studying God’s word (the Bible), and not judging others are a few examples of good Christian works. With courage and conviction, these “works” can be accomplished. If you fall, keep getting up and trying again. The reward of everlasting life is well worth the effort 🙂
